Advertisement Analysis: Good 1/15 [Santa Casa]

Pros:

  • Clever usage of food, arranged to look like the Hepatitis virus under the microscope
  • Clean and simple design
  • The lines on both sides of the copywriting draw your attention to it and frame the words that would otherwise look like they are "floating"
  • Placement of the focal point scoop of ice cream and the copywriting follow the rule of thirds
  • Pleasing split complementary colour scheme

Cons:

  • It doesn't make much sense at first glance. If not for the copywriting, you might not have any idea what this ad is about.

Overall:

I really like this ad! I feel like it does a good job getting the point about the dangers of obesity across. Not only does it get the point across, but it also does it in a very tasteful manner. Conversely, ads with a similar message often try to get the point across with shocking images of overweight people. Yeah, maybe the shock factor does sell better but I think this design shows more thoughtfulness!
